Welcome

At Newborn Home Care we understand that there are times when adjusting to life with a new baby can be a bit of a struggle, particularly if there were difficulties encountered with baby's birth, his health, or with breastfeeding. We also know that sometimes mothers themselves have complications that interrupt the straightforward path that was anticipated, leaving them feeling less than strong after the birth.

In circumstances like this – and sometimes for no reason at all – the early weeks and first few months, can bring some unexpected challenges that may cause you to reach out for help with looking after your baby.

Call us for a chat about your situation or concerns. We are here to help.

Our Approach

We offer a range of support services that are grounded in the latest research in infant management, known as Neuro- Protective Developmental Care (NDC), or the Possums approach.

This approach is simple, yet revolutionary, cutting through old and conflicting advice about how to care for babies, to instead work with your baby's natural biology.

Our strategies are gentle, loving and holistic. They are well researched and make sense.

Drawing on a rich evidence base of knowledge, we can help you to know and understand your little one, what he is communicating to you with his cries and how to help him be settled and feed well.

The NDC approach, developed by Dr Pam Douglas, acknowledges the way that a baby's feeding, sleeping and crying are linked to parent wellbeing. Using this framework, we take a big picture look across baby's health, mother's health, sleep, feeding and cry/fuss domains, to work with parents to identify and address any concerns they have.

You will find we place the neuro-developmental needs of your baby at the centre of all advice we share - whether that be about breast or bottle feeding, settling your baby or shifting the family towards synchronised sleep.

Why?

Because it supports your baby's neurological wellbeing - and it is key to making life with a baby easier.

Whatever your circumstances, we are here to help. You are the most important person in your baby’s life. You are now and, throughout their growing, you always will be.
